Following a full and fun season of competition for our grass roots riders in a series of four different Diddy One Day Events, kindly Sponsored by 608 Equine and Farm Vets, SRC invited all those who had been lucky enough to be placed in the top ten (in any of those competitions), to come back for the Championship Event to contest their places.
The series is aimed at novice riders who aren’t confident enough to tackle a full course of cross-country, which usually starts at 70cm. Juniors can have assistance in the smaller classes (40cm and 50cm) for encouragement and callers are allowed for everyone in the dressage phase. The Diddy showjumping has only 9 jumping efforts with cross-country having 14 newly built inviting jumps. The course was sympathetically created with nothing technical or off-putting for their horses and ponies, which runs mainly in one field with an added loop and a short trip through the woodland.
Even though we had to push the event back a week due to storm Amy, with support from many of our long-standing volunteers and officials, Top Shots Photography and Bit by Bit Reels managed to capture some very happy moments! We loved hearing about everyone’s different journeys to get to the Championships, and it was heart-warming to see competitors of all ages take part across 40cm, 50cm, 60cm and 70cm sections.
Winners received sashes and rosettes sponsored by 608 Equine and Farm Vets along with a trophy and goody bag to take home.
