On Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th April lots of our members travelled back up to Arena UK – this time for the BRC Equilibrium Intermediate Winter Championships!
We had Junior and Senior members riding across dressage and showjumping – quite an achievement considering we also fielded teams at the Novice Winter Championships a couple of weeks ago. The weather was mixed once again, and the Juniors in particular had to contend with sideways rain and flooded arenas! Thank you to all our riders for your commitment to the Club.
We’re absolutely delighted to share that our Solihull members were absolutely fantastic and we came away with not just one, but TWO National Championship wins!
A huge congratulations to:
🥇Junior 90cm Showjumping team who won the 90: James Maundrell, Sophie Maundrell, Molly Staite and Luella Hunt
Senior Dressage Individuals:
🥇Sophie Yelloly who won the Advanced Medium with 68.83%, riding FHS Diamond in the Rough
🥉Vicki Wentworth and Dilano Z who came third in both their Prelim and Novice tests
🌟Lydia Joyce and Ballylarkin Dream who scored 65.42% in a competitive Novice section
🌟Senior 90 Showjumping team: Sophie Wooster, Atlanta Morton, Lydia Joyce and Connie Gould
Sophie Yelloly, winner of the Advanced Medium and overall National Champion said, “It was lovely to represent Solihull RC at another BRC Nationals – this time on Smokey in the Advanced Medium. To come away with the National title is more than I ever expected! I’ve only had Smokey for coming on 7 months, so to qualify for the Nationals in such a short time is an achievement in itself! The Solihull Teams are so much fun to do and I recommend anyone to join them.”
As always, we’d like to take the time to thank everyone who helps to run, organise and train our BRC Senior and Junior teams, as well as our super sponsors Aspen Cooling Ltd and Stephen Hunt who help make these opportunities possible.
We’d like to give a special mention to Caroline Attenborrow who travelled up to Arena UK for the whole weekend to support both the Seniors and Juniors, and gave up her time volunteering so that all our teams could compete.
We’re always looking to welcome more riders to our BRC teams – if you’d like to join the fun, send us a DM or fill out our BRC form.
