We are deeply saddened to confirm that Mrs Clare Bedford died as a result of a fall whilst competing, during the cross country phase, at the Solihull Riding Club one day event on Saturday 13 July.
Clare Bedford was aged 31 and from Rugby, Warwickshire. Clare’s horse was unharmed in this tragic incident.
Our thoughts are with Clare’s family and friends at this difficult time.
British Riding Clubs is carrying out an investigation into the incident and assisting the Local Authority with their usual inquiry.

It is with the deepest regret that we announced that a rider died, following a fatal incident, whilst competing, during the cross country phase, at the Solihull Riding Club one day event on Saturday 13 July. The next of kin have been informed.
Paramedics who were in attendance as part of the event organisation were the first to attend to the rider. British Riding Clubs is carrying out an investigation into the incident and assisting the Local Authority with their enquiry.
Solihull Riding Club and British Riding Clubs extend their deepest sympathy to the family of the rider at this tragic time.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Events/Office Manager to oversee and organise events as well as being responsible for supervising, managing and motivating team members on a daily basis.
This role is ultimately responsible for planning, managing and overseeing all events and activities at the centre. You’ll ensure events are successful, well-advertised and cost-effective, paying attention to budget, KPI’s and time constraints. You’ll also work closely with the grounds team to ensure all the facilities are well maintained.
As a key ambassador, you will be required to liaise with customers on a day to day basis and to obtain sponsorship/funding to secure the profitability, financial viability and future development of the centre.
• Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent).
• Excellent IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Capable of multi-tasking, dealing with and resolving various issues through pro-active minimal action.
• A hands-on individual with strong communication and organisational skills.
• Previous experience of working in a fast-paced, demanding sales/marketing environment.
• Previous experience in managing and mentoring a team.
• A diploma or degree preferably in a marketing or business discipline. (professional experience achieving similar competence in this discipline would be an advantage to this role but is not essential).
• Knowledge of the Equestrian industry to include familiarity with the requirements of the respective governing bodies of the various disciplines preferred, but not essential.
This is very much a hands-on role with management responsibility and due to the nature of the business, some weekend and evening working. Due to last nights extreme rain, we have now changed our One Day Event to Arena Eventing this Saturday 15th June.
This will involve NO dressage, you’ll show jump at your given showjumping time in the main indoor arena and then go through to the outdoor arena for the xc phase. XC colours to be worn for both phases.
Heights etc will remain the same except for the 100cm/100+cm- we can only get xc jumps up to 90cm in our arena, however your showjumping heights will remain the same.
The cost for this will be £35; You will be refunded the difference.

Due to the Packington Dog Agility Show taking place on Monday 27th May, the Members Field will be closed on the afternoon of Sunday 26th and all day Monday 27th May.
The Boundary Ride will be open all weekend, please pop to the office for the gate code.

Saturday 18th May 2019 – Clear Round Show Jumping and Clear Round XC to raise funds to send the 110cm SJ Team winners from 2018 to represent British Riding Clubs at the AIRC Festival in Mullingar, Ireland, come along and show your support! Entries on the day and there’s raffle with some great prizes to be won too.
From the 14th May during the summer months, the café will be open upstairs from Thursday to Sunday 10:00 – 15:00 (or longer if a competition is running – please check that day’s start times) and on a Tuesday evening during the competition, but will no longer be open on Monday, Tuesday daytime or Wednesday unless we have a booking or competition running.
In line with today’s current BEF guidelines, can all riders please bring their horses passports to the office to be checked prior to unloading whether you are coming to the centre for a competition or to hire the facilities. Your understanding at this time is appreciated, let’s keep everyone safe.
Due to the Scout Association Area Jamboree we are having to cancel tomorrows showjumping classes as we don’t have enough car parking space to accommodate both events.
